Congratulations, Champions!

Congratulations to all of the 2023 New York State Poetry Out Loud Finalists and to the State Champion, James Masson of Syosset, and 2nd Place Winner, Moses Usen of Cornwall, NY! Nineteen finalists gathered at the State Finals at The Center for Fiction on March 11th to recite works by classic and contemporary poets including Ross Gay, Tracey K. Smith, Langston Hughes, Margaret Atwood, Emily Dickinson, and John Keats, among others.

Poetry Out Loud is a national competition that engages high school students with great classic and contemporary poetry through the art of performance. James Masson will go on to represent New York State at the Poetry Out Loud Nationals in Washington, D.C., May 8-10th.
