Principal's Message

      Welcome to Our School!

      • Cornwall Elementary School is the largest of the three elementary schools in the Cornwall Central School District. We educate approximately 550 students in Kindergarten through Grade 4. Our students are challenged academically each day by our exceptional and dedicated faculty and staff, who help the students become proficient in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Our curricula is aligned to the NYS Standards. Our ranking in the NYS ELA and Math exams for 3rd and 4th graders is at the top county-wide. This is a shared ranking between our elementary schools. In Cornwall, we are very fortunate to have support for our students who need extra help in ELA and/or Math. We focus on the well-rounded child by implementing rigorous academic instruction while also addressing our students’ social emotional learning (SEL) needs.

All students at Cornwall Elementary School are given the opportunity to perform in our yearly Drama Production which is always a favorite! Students in Grade 4 participate in Chorus and also have the option to participate in either Orchestra or Band. All students are also offered Music, Library, Art, and Physical Education. Cornwall Elementary School teachers are dedicated to supporting student growth in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM).

Our Character Education Program is a major focus at Cornwall Elementary School and we kick off each month by focusing on a new character trait. Throughout the school year, we have assemblies that address the character traits and recognize students who have earned Principal’s Awards for exemplifying the character trait of the month in their classrooms and in the school.

It’s very important to us at CES that our students are well-educated, happy children who leave us with a sense of doing right to make our community that much better. We have a very strong school/home connection, which is key to our positive, nurturing environment and our students' success!

Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have.
