• Rehearsal and grading info:

    5/6

5th and 6th graders are scheduled for orchestra rehearsals once per cycle:

    6th grade: D days, period 8

    5th grade: D days, period 9

Those rehearsals take place onstage in the auditorium. You will also be assigned a lesson group that will meet approximately once a week on a rotating basis in either D-15 (the band room) or onstage.

    7/8

7th and 8th graders are scheduled for orchestra rehearsals twice per cycle:

    7th grade: A/C days, period 3

    8th grade: A/C days, period 4

Lessons will take place approximately once every two weeks on a rotating schedule either in D-15 (the band room) or onstage.

    For everyone:

Attendance at all rehearsals and lessons is expected of all students - it’s important that you show up and learn all the necessary skills and music so you are prepared for our concerts and other events as well as continue to make progress as a musician. The lesson schedule will be released shortly and will be posted in our Google Classroom and available in hard copy in the wooden rack outside the door of D-15. Everyone is expected to come prepared with their instrument, music (in a folder), and a pencil to every lesson and rehearsal. Bass players do not need to bring their own instruments to school, we have basses here for them to use.

While rehearsals are mandatory and part of your weekly schedule, sometimes lessons (that change times every week) may conflict with a test in another class or something important that you cannot miss. If this happens, don’t worry! Just come see me as soon as you can and I’ll work with you to schedule a make-up time.

    Grading will be 50% performance/lesson preparation/playing assessments and 50% attendance/ preparation/participation.
