    The 9 member Board of Education is elected by residents of Cornwall Central School District, who are 18 years of age or over, citizens of the U.S.A., and a resident of the school district for at least 30 days. In addition, a qualified voter must be registered with the Orange County Board of Elections and/or the Cornwall School District. Members serve without salary and are responsible for policy-making and overseeing a public school district's affairs, personnel, and properties. Each is elected for a term of 3 years.
    Elections are held annually. Board meetings are open to the public and are held twice each month with the exception of July and August which sees one meeting per month.  Meetings typically begin at 7:00 p.m. at either Cornwall Central High School or Cornwall Elementary School.

    Academic: Maximize in-person instruction while safely and effectively transitioning the district back to its pre-covid environment as soon as practical for both academic and extracurricular involvement.

    Metric: Updates from the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for instruction.


    Social/Emotional: Provide districtwide support for students, staff, and families.

    Metric: Updates from the Superintendent and Director of Guidance.


    Technology: Transition CCSD  to a one-to-one school district for electronic devices by the end of the 2021-22 school year.

    Metric: Updates from the Superintendent and the Director of Technology.

    Academic: Complete the essential academic curriculum for each grade level and cohort as set forth by NYS while staying focused on the social/emotional needs of our students. Be responsive to the evolving academic and extracurricular needs of the district while ensuring each student is in the best possible position to succeed.

              We will: Prioritize students’ needs in mid-year and end of the year decisions


    Personnel: Ensure every district employee has the support and resources needed.

    We will: Prioritize personnel needs in the mid-year and end of year discussions


    Communication: Continue to utilize multiple platforms to promote transparency and strengthen relationships with the community and inform them of important projects and news.

              We will: Hold community forums

              We will: Collect input about critical issues

    We will: Continue to have BOE meetings and updates accessible to the community

    Facilities: Develop a prioritized five-year plan for the repair and enhancement of our facilities to support the best environment for our students and staff.

    We will: Review and assess the needs identified in the 2021 Building Condition Survey

    We will: Work with our District leaders and our architect firm to be able to present a capital improvement proposal in the spring of 2022.

    We will: Request regular updates from all involved in the proposal


    Financial: Meet the short-term financial needs of the district while being mindful of our long-term fiscal strength.

    We will: Request regular updates from the Assistant Superintendent for Business. Work with the District to look ahead for our future needs.


    Safety: Continually assess and improve as needed all health and safety needs in all buildings.

    We will: Support Buildings and Grounds to ensure they have the resources necessary to keep all students and staff safe.

    We will: Request periodic updates from the Superintendent, Buildings and Grounds and other District leaders


    Technology: Support the Technology team to ensure we can meet the evolving educational needs of our students and staff.

    We will: Request periodic updates from the Superintendent and the Director of Technology for general information and the 1-to-1 initiative


    Oversight: Ensure progress on the district goals and Board goals

    We will: Request regular updates in all areas
