Assistant Superintendent for Business
Job Description: Under the Superintendent of Schools, the Assistant Superintendent for Business is the Chief Business Official responsible for the planning and management of the District’s finances, including the oversight and supervision of its annual budget. Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent for Business provides leadership, direction and supervision of the District’s Business Office, including payroll, accounts payable and the treasury. Additionally, oversight and supervision of the District’s facilities, transportation and food services departments is a critical component of this leadership role.
Qualifications:

Master’s Degree, New York State School District Business Leader Certification
-
Minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience and/or successful leadership experience in the areas of public-school finance, budget development, and management and business office operations.

Extensive knowledge of New York State public school initiatives, federal and state finance regulations and guidelines, and capital project management.

Fingerprint clearance required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Preparation of the annual operating budget that is presented to the Board of Education.
-
Responsible for the collection of data in preparation of the annual budget and the District’s long-range financial planning.

Supervises the financial affairs of the District, including investment of funds, accounting, and reporting procedures.

Works closely with the District’s Claims Auditor, Internal Auditor, and External Auditor in safeguarding the District’s assets and strengthening the internal controls of the District’s operations.

Prepares and oversees all financial and state aid reports.
-
Supervises the purchasing and review of goods and services, including third party contracts.
-
Serves as District Clerk, including responsibilities as the purchasing agent.
-
Supervises the District’s insurance programs, including property and casualty and employer liability. In turn, works in concert with legal counsel to handle such matters when appropriate.

Actively participates in district contract negotiations with five distinct bargaining units.

Works in close concert and collaboration with the Human Resources Department to ensure staffing needs are met and maintained as well as recommended appointments are consistent with the District’s annual operating budget.

Supervises and provides leadership, direction and support to the Business Office, Facilities Department, Transportation and Food Services Department.

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

Recruitment Process: Candidates selected for a screening interview will meet with the District Office Cabinet, including the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Director of Human Resources. Promising candidates will move forward to a larger committee before two finalists are selected for a performance task to be presented to the District Office leadership team. The recommended finalist will meet with the Board of Education prior to appointment with an anticipated start date on, or around, November 1, 2024.

This work involves responsibility for the performance of routine building cleaning and occasional minor maintenance tasks. Custodian (District Wide)
Code Number: 2022-082 Title: Custodian Location: District Wide (Building & Grounds) Description: Cornwall Central School District is seeking a full-time Custodian for the 2nd shift. Individual will be responsible for customary duties associated with the position.
The work involves responsibility for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of a small or medium size school, municipal building or for a large building on an assigned shift. Work is performed under general supervision with some leeway for use of independent judgment in meeting approved standards of building cleanliness and operation. Supervision is exercised over the work of a small number of cleaning or custodial personnel. Does related work as required.Requirements: Applicants must have good knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment and ability to use them efficiently and economically; skill in the operation of cleaning equipment; ability to make minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical repairs and perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; ability to lead and supervise the work of others; willingness to perform custodial and other manual tasks; thoroughness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Daily hours are 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM. Days are Monday through Friday in conjunction with the Student Calendar. Good attendance is essential. No prior experience required.
